A “GREATEST GENERATION” WORLD WAR 2 VETERAN SHARES HIS STORY OF THE AIR WAR IN EUROPE, IN “LETTERS FROM BUD,” NOW ON AMAZON.COM!
LOS ANGELES, CALIF.--World War 2 flight navigator and bombardier John “Bud” Brandenburg’s story of life during the air war in Europe is now being shared in book form, 75 years after the DDAY Normandy invasion. The book is presented by his children, Molly and Eric Brandenburg, who are publishing the book in partnership with Happy Publishing.
Brandenburg’s story is told through the letters he wrote home to his parents during the conflict, and they create a vivid picture of the time and the events of the war. Brandenburg’s story covers the epoch-changing events of the final days of WW2, from training in Europe in the Spring of 1944 through a run of 30 missions over Germany and occupied France, followed by numerous adventures in North Africa and the Middle East, runnning supply missions for The Air Transport Command in 1945..
Brandenburg was initially part of the “bloody” 492nd Bomb Group, an ill-fated bombing group that suffered an 80% casualty rate before being disbanded by the military after 89 days. Numerous times, Brandenburg and the Koltun crew narrowly missed disaster, as they twice returned from leave in London to find the majority of their unit shot down in combat.
With grace and wit, Brandenburg conveys the guts, humor and heart of the men of this courageous generation, making this a page turning read that’s a must for anyone intrigued by this history of World War 2.
